Holiday Mulling Spice Maple Bourbon Cocktail

INGREDIENTS:

For the spiced maple syrup:

1/2 cup maple syrup

2 TBSP Milford Spice Company’s Holiday Mulling Spice

1 tea strainer

3 TBSP bourbon

2 TBSP lemon juice

1-2 dashes orange bitters

2 TBSP spiced maple syrup

Champagne, for topping

DIRECTIONS:

To make the spiced maple syrup, in a small pot, bring 1/2 cup water, the maple syrup and 2 tablespoons of Milford Spice Company’s Holiday Mulling Spice in a tea strainer to a boil over high heat. Boil 2-3 minutes, then remove from the heat. Let cool, then strain the syrup into a glass jar. This syrup makes enough for about 6 drinks.

In a cocktail shaker, combine 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, the bourbon, lemon juice, and orange bitters. Add ice and shake. Strain into a glass. Top off with champagne. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and twist of orange, if desired.
