Why This Recipe Works

This slow cooker chili works because it builds flavor from simple ingredients. The ground beef gives the chili a hearty base, the chorizo or sausage adds extra richness, the beans make it filling, and the salsa or tomato mixture brings acidity and body. Milford Spice Company Perfect Chili adds ancho chile powder, pasilla negro chile powder, paprika, garlic, onion, and cumin flavor in one easy blend, so you do not have to dig through the spice drawer for several separate seasonings.

Make It Your Way

  • For a milder chili: use mild salsa and a mild sausage instead of spicy chorizo.

  • For extra heat: add jalapeños, cayenne, hot sauce, or spicy salsa.

  • For a smokier flavor: add smoked paprika, chipotle peppers, or smoked sausage.

  • For a thicker chili: cook uncovered for the last 20–30 minutes or mash a small portion of the beans into the sauce.

  • For a veggie version: skip the meat and add extra beans, diced peppers, corn, mushrooms, or sweet potatoes.

What to Serve with Perfect Chili

This chili pairs well with cornbread, tortilla chips, baked potatoes, rice, roasted sweet potatoes, a simple green salad, or warm crusty bread. For a game day spread, serve it with shredded cheese, sour cream, onions, jalapeños, and chips so everyone can build their own bowl.

More Ways to Use Milford Perfect Chili

Milford Spice Company Perfect Chili is useful beyond a pot of chili. Try it in tacos, burritos, enchiladas, potatoes, marinades, sauces, chili cheese dip, soups, roasted vegetables, or ground beef skillet dinners.

  • Stir it into taco meat or burrito filling.

  • Add it to enchilada sauce, tomato sauce, or soup.

  • Sprinkle it over roasted potatoes or sweet potatoes.

  • Mix it into sour cream or Greek yogurt for a quick chili-style dip.

  • Use it as a base seasoning for beef, chicken, sausage, or veggie chili.

Allergen-Friendly Swaps

  • Dairy-free: skip the cheddar cheese and sour cream toppings or use dairy-free alternatives.

  • Gluten-free: check the sausage, chorizo, salsa, beans, and tomato sauce labels to make sure they are certified gluten-free.

  • Lower sodium option: use no-salt-added beans, low-sodium tomato sauce, and a lower-sodium salsa.

  • Bean-free option: replace the beans with extra meat, peppers, mushrooms, or diced zucchini.
