9:00 AM – Welcome & Market Introduction
We begin the day with coffee, conversation, and an introduction from Laura and Mark. You'll learn about the fascinating history of Detroit's Eastern Market, its impact on the region, and some of the hidden gems and historic highlights that make it one of the country's most beloved markets.
You'll also meet our special guest, Carlos Parisi—better known as Detroit Foodhead. Carlos is a celebrated food personality, pop-up chef, and television host who has appeared on Max, PBS, YouTube, NBC, and WDIV. His infectious energy, insider knowledge, and passion for Detroit's food scene make him the perfect voice to help kick off our adventure.
10:00 AM – The Market Treasure Hunt Begins
Next, we'll gather at the beautiful Eastern Market commercial kitchen where participants will be divided into teams and receive their market treasure hunt assignments.
Your mission? Explore the market, meet local farmers, producers, artisans, and vendors, hear their stories, discover unique ingredients, and gather the bounty you'll use later in the day.
This immersive experience is designed to help you connect with the people behind the food while experiencing Eastern Market like a true insider.
Culinary Experience with Chef Evelyn
After your market adventure, you'll return to the commercial kitchen where Chef Evelyn will lead a hands-on cooking experience. Known for her engaging teaching style and rave reviews, Chef Evelyn will guide guests through the preparation of a beautiful seasonal meal featuring market-fresh ingredients.
